Our Project Experience

Critical RF Engineering

We designed a PCB assembly for Critical RF, a pioneer in Radio over Internet Protocol (RoIP) technology. The assembly was created using the bracket manufacturer’s STEP file and an Altium 3D image imported into SolidWorks. This board integrates RF signal, audio, and logic for public safety, utilities, and commercial enterprises. Critical RF offers software-based voice communication solutions for these sectors.

Polycom Integration

Our consulting and engineering services provided solutions to the audio quality problems that plagued the first Polycom Soundstation prototype units. By establishing correct grounding and power distribution techniques, 90% of the audio quality problems were resolved. A full-room anechoic chamber was also built to solve audio quality issues related to the acoustic separation of the microphones and speaker.

Medical Device Engineering

Our consulting services delivered a redesign and reduced size of the control circuitry that receives myoelectric voltages from a residual limb to manipulate a prosthetic hand.

We also provided biomedical engineering services for a dorsal root ganglia (DRG) therapy device and an imaging system device for newborn infants that helps control adequate oxygen levels or see a growth of blood vessels to mitigate oxygen issues.

One Touch System keypad controller

One Touch Systems

Our consulting and engineering services took over a stalled project without a working prototype to high-production units within 3 months. Electronic design included a telephone interface (FCC Part 68), RS485 serial communications port, analog pre-processing for digital audio, 80C51 microcontroller, and interface to ISA bus. Mechanical designs included sheet metal chassis, sheet metal covers, injection molded cases, and injection molded front bezels.

Mechanical Machining and Sheet Metal

FC Engineering Services has offered consulting and engineering services on several mechanical and sheet metal projects such as the machined aluminum drive plate designed in ProEngineer Wildfire 2.0, an adjustable width storage rack, a lofted cone, and others. The designs were made using SolidWorks.

Acutus Medical AcQMap system

Acutus Medical AcQMap System

Our medical device engineering services were enlisted for hardware design, software development, system integration, and regulatory compliance for the AcQMap system by Acutus Medical. The device addresses limitations in traditional cardiovascular imaging for diagnosing and treating cardiac arrhythmias, especially atrial fibrillation.

FC Engineering Services architected the hardware and software of a universal automated test system for testing highly complex medical device boards comprising the control system for internal ultrasonic imaging of the chambers of the
human heart and measuring the dipole density of the stimulation of the heart.

Phoenix ICON Ophthalmic Camera

Phoenix Technology Group, now part of NeoLight, Inc., employed our consulting and engineering services to enhance their ophthalmic retinal imaging system for NICU patients – ensuring regulatory compliance with IEC-60601 standards for EMC safety while refining manufacturing and quality processes.

FC Engineering resolved supply chain shortage issues by approving alternate parts and assemblies for this ophthalmic camera, as well as developed and provided Verification and Validation testing of new equipment and procedures.

Featured Projects

Our electrical engineering services expertise derives from working on several projects, such as fixing the Polycom soundstation’s audio issues, the second-generation design of the One Touch Systems digital audio board, and many more.

Machined aluminum drive plate designed in SolidWorks

This drive plate was designed to specific tolerances as a critical component in a system demanding optimum performance levels.

One Touch Systems digital audio board

Design incorporating digital audio and an RF converter that converts base-band video to NTSC channels 3 and 4. Functions also on this board are Analog telephone interface (FCC Part 68); RS485 serial communications; Display and front panel I/O; ISA bus interface.

Polycom SoundStation

High-end audio-conferencing equipment with audio quality achieved by grounding and power distribution techniques, as well as acoustic separation of the microphones and speaker – designed using a full-room anechoic chamber.

Acutus AcQMap System

Designed to provide a clear image of a heart’s electrical activity in real time, displayed as an electrical charge density map on three-dimensional surface anatomy reconstructed from ultrasound imaging.Designed to provide a clear image of a heart’s electrical activity in real time, displayed as an electrical charge density map on three-dimensional surface anatomy reconstructed from ultrasound imaging.

Phoenix ICON Ophthalmic Camera

Designed with low-power LED and CMOS sensor to provide highly-detailed ophthalmic imaging with low-light – improving patient comfort and care.
